Week 12

Great post! Your explanation of constructionism was very detailed and informative. I like how you included a range of tools that can be used in the makerspace. However it would have been better if you had elaborate more on how the specific examples could be used in classrooms and how it fosters creativity. Overall it was a great read, and I really like how you highlighted the benefits of integrating constructionism and the maker movement in classrooms.

Week 11

This was a really great post. The background of games was very informative and it was really good how you incorporated statistics to highlight the increase of popularity in computer games. I liked how you listed all the benefits of using games in education and how it can foster creativity in students. I definitely agree that teachers find it hard to integrate games into pedagogical practices which is why it is mainly untouched in classrooms. As a secondary social science teacher, it is difficult to link the content in games which is why research must be done before implementing it in classrooms and the teacher must explore the game first. Overall, it was a great read and it definitely raises questions about integrating games in classrooms.

Week 7

This is a great post. I found it really interesting how different headsets have different levels of educational uses. It was very informative to read about that and the implications that arise with VR. Also, I liked your example of CoSpaces and how that can be used in classrooms with subject specific areas. However, besides the experience, how else could VR foster creativity in students? Personally, as a secondary school teacher I do believe VR should be used for high school students and above because younger students are still cognitively developing, and they may not understand the immersive experience. Overall, it was a great read!

Week 6

Great explanation of augmented reality. It was really good how you explained the benefits of using AR in the classroom and linked that to the TPACK model. I definitely agree with the example of AR Flashcards being directed towards stage 1 students. As a secondary teacher, I would probably never use AR Flashcards in classrooms as it is very simple and has basic literacy skills. Overall, it was a great read and very informative.

Week 5

I found your post very informative and detailed. Your explanation of robotics was very detailed and allowed me to understand the benefits of using it. The description of blue bot was very detailed and the video allowed a visual perspective of using it in classrooms. I like how you used different examples in different subjects to highlight the potential of blue bot. However, as a high school teacher I do not think I would use blue bot in class as I feel it is more directed towards younger students such as primary school. Also, you could explain more on the benefits of using blue bot in classrooms and how it could enhance student creativity. Overall, great post!

Week 4

Great post! This is a really detailed post and was very informative. I like how you linked the curriculum in and explained the significance of it. It was great to read about the pedagogical aspects and the importance of computational thinking. The explanation of Micro:bit was great and revealed how it can foster creativity. As a social science teacher, there are definitely aspects where it would be difficult to integrate Micro:bit in classrooms, however your explanation of computational thinking itself revealed the benefits of using it in classrooms. You could have also discussed some examples of using Micro:bit in classrooms to enhance student creativity. Overall, great post about computational thinking.

Week 3

This is a great post. I like how you explained the link between 3D printing to design based thinking. I found it really interesting how you questioned the use of 3D printing in classrooms and the example of students’ desire in science classes. I definitely agree with your final thoughts where students are able to feel that sense of accomplishment when seeing their design come to life through 3D printing. I also liked how you explained how it can promote creativity. It would have been great if you had elaborate more on pedagogical approaches in classrooms. Overall, it was a very informative post.

Week 2

Great insight on virtual reality. I liked how you mentioned how it can be beneficial, as well as stating some disadvantages that teachers should be aware of. Also, addressing the issues that VR could leave on health was very insightful. The videos provided allowed a good understanding of how VR is used in education. It was also great how you gave some short examples of how VR could be used through different subjects. You could also discuss the alignment between curriculum and assessment and possibly future directions of VR in education. Overall, this was a great post!

This is very interesting and insightful post. It certainly is a very different tool to use in classrooms. I like how you elaborated on the pedagogical approach when using social networking tools like Flipgrid in classrooms. Also, the platform it provides for students to learn through collaboration. The videos were an excellent demonstration on how exactly Flipgrid works. I definitely agree that it is important on how social networking sites are implemented in classrooms. There must be a clear outcome for students to achieve, and as teachers making sure they are staying on task. I would suggest explaining more or providing further examples on how it could be used to enhance student creativity in classrooms. Overall, this was a great post and was very informative.
